Ahnay Adams ’24 Named Gatorade Player of the Year for Second Consecutive Year

Following two standout seasons at Tilton, Gatorade today announced that Ahnay Adams is the 2022-23 New Hampshire Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Adams, who is receiving the honor for the second consecutive year, is the sixth Tilton student-athlete to earn this prestigious award joining Jackson Paradis ’22 (football), Olivia Orlando ’17 (girls basketball), Terance Mann ’15 (boys basketball), and Alex Oriahki ’09 (boys basketball).

The three-time Lakes Region All-Star poured in 21.4 points per game to go along with 6.7 assists, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.1 steals. Adams additionally became a 1,000 point scorer this seasonMVP honors for her play during this year’s Blackburn Tournament, including a season-high 37 points vs. Proctor in the tournament championship.

As a coach nothing makes you prouder than watching a player achieve their dreams. I’ve always said that for Ahnay it’s not luck or by accident, she is destined for greatness. She wont stop working until she accomplishes all the goals she has for herself and her team. To be named as the Gatorade Player of the year for the second straight time isn’t just because she is an incredible athlete and basketball player, it is because Ahnay is the complete package; a driven student, a loyal friend and teammate on top of being an amazing person.

In a press release, Gatorade described the award as one “which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court, distinguishes Adams as New Hampshire’s best high school girls basketball player. Adams joins an elite alumni association of state award winners in 12 sports, including Kiki Rice (2021-22, Sidwell Friends School, Washington, D.C.), Paige Bueckers (2019-20, Hopkins High School, Minn.), Nneka Ogwumike (2007-08, CyFair High School, Texas), and Candace Parker (2003-04 & 2002-03, Naperville Central High School, Ill.).
