Head of School Kate Saunders P’17, ’21 announced today that David Suarez has been named Tilton’s new Dean of Community Life. Currently the school’s Associate Director of College Counseling, Suarez joined the Tilton community for the 2022-23 school year after many years of experience in independent schools and colleges in the region. Suarez had most recently served as the Director of College and Career Counseling at High Mowing School in New Hampshire. In addition to his experience in education, Suarez has worked in a variety of other industries, including law enforcement.
“David has made an impact on the campus community from the moment he began his work at Tilton,” says Saunders. “His energy and genuine excitement for creating community and supporting students are inspirational qualities.”
With Suarez’s appointment, says Saunders, also comes a reshaping of the role previously known as Dean of Students. “The new title — Dean of Community Life — is representative of how we strive to structure opportunities for colleagues, students, and families to have a role in cultivating the future of student life at Tilton,” says Saunders. “We aspire to develop an inclusive culture with an emphasis on engagement, fun, and wildly spirited school pride. This includes honoring unique Tilton traditions that are representative of our past, present, and future.” Among the top priorities, continues Saunders, is working to develop kindness and respect among the student body that graduates will take with them long after their time on the Hill.
“I feel immense privilege in being chosen for this role,” says Suarez. “In my short time here, I have been blown away by the students and their families, our faculty and staff, and our alumni. I have seen excitement and pride both in and out of the classroom. Our community is strong and primed for the next chapter in our ‘Tilton True’ story. I look forward to connecting with every member of our community and welcoming new ones.”
Suarez will begin his new role on July 1, 2023, as Tilton begins preparations for the 2023-24 school year.
