Head of School Derek Krein announced today that JD Rogers will be Tilton’s next Dean of Enrollment Management, beginning on July 1, 2024. Rogers will join the community after spending 10 years at Marianapolis Preparatory School (CT) where he currently serves as the Assistant Head of School for Enrollment Management & Marketing.
“I am thrilled for the entirety of the Tilton School community that both our historical legacy and our future aspirations resonate so strongly with an educator of such high caliber as JD Rogers,” says Krein. “Bringing his experience, optimism, and knowledge to bear on our enrollment management dynamics will surely prove to be vital for a flourishing Tilton. JD is an unsurpassed enrollment professional, an enthusiastic collaborator and problem-solver, and a first-rate human being. We can’t wait to have JD, Rachel, and the entirety of Team Rogers here on The Hill!”
Rogers has dedicated the last ten years to advancing his career in admission, and, in his current role, has significantly revamped the admission operation, including management of the school’s financial aid program, marketing initiatives, data management, and strategic planning. By rebuilding and diversifying student enrollment in recent years, his efforts have driven a 12.5% increase in student enrollment heading into 2024-25 and have grown the number of countries represented on campus from 17 to 25. While at Marianapolis, Rogers also spent 14 months working overseas as the founding Associate Head of School for the institution’s sister school in Bien Hoa, Vietnam — SNA Marianapolis — helping to establish enrollment operations, train personnel, and drive decisions about curriculum, operations, and more. A graduate of Denison University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Rogers also holds a Masters from Northeastern University.
“I am grateful and humbled to have this opportunity to join the Tilton community and Admissions team,” says Rogers. “Tilton has a rich history of engaging and enriching students’ minds and providing resources and pathways to personal growth and success that is nothing short of inspiring. It is with excitement and eagerness that we begin sculpting the next incoming class of Rams and future leaders, adding a unique and diverse chapter to Tilton’s story!”
In addition to his extensive enrollment management experience, Rogers spent the first decade of his career in corporate marketing and management roles. His work includes time as Managing Partner, Marketing and Development for Sports Identity, Inc., and Senior Vice President of Empirical Synergies, Inc., where he developed high-level marketing plans, led research and development, and managed daily operations, among many other responsibilities.
His deep roots in the boarding school world began with his time as a student at Pomfret School (CT). Rogers is a self-described “triple threat” who, in addition to his duties in admission, has worked as a dorm parent and coach. He currently lives on campus at Marianapolis with his wife, Rachel, who serves as the school’s Director of Advancement, and their three children.
Rogers will step into his new role at Tilton following the retirement of Candace Landroche P’02 in July after her 26 years of service in the Admissions Office — seven of which came in her current role as Director of Admissions. She and Krein will work closely in the coming months to prepare for this transition and to capitalize on the opportunities ahead for Tilton School with the appointment of a new Head of School, continuing capital work in Knowles Hall and the Charles E. Tilton Mansion, and the school’s self-study and accreditation this coming fall.
The Rogers family is thrilled to be joining the Tilton community.
