I grew up in Tilton, and always wanted to attend Tilton School, so when my twins told me they wanted to attend Tilton, I was thrilled. Tilton has been amaing for my son, small class sizes, feeling like part of a community, the culture, and showing him what he’s capable of accomplishing. Everyone at Tilton has been warm, welcoming, and beyond helpful. We chose Tilton School because of their commitment to us.

Tilton School fosters a strong sense of community. Watching my sons grow and become leaders within Tilton’s supportive environment has deepened my appreciation for the school’s commitment to developing both character and intellect. Volunteering here has been a joy, giving me the chance to give back to a community that has given so much to my family. Whether through parent initiatives or supporting student activities, I love being part of Tilton’s mission to create a nurturing, inclusive, and inspiring place for every student.

Sam Crawford P’28
Tilton has been an incredible experience for our son, Trent. He developed and matured significantly during his time from Kindergarten to 9th grade at Rectory School in Pomfret, CT and he decided that he was very interested in attending a boarding school. We worked with the staff at Rectory – particularly his hockey coach (who attended Tilton) and the academic dean – to find a place that would match Trent’s personality and provided close staff involvement with the students, small class sizes and an outstanding community environment. Tilton has checked all the boxes and has been an absolutely fantastic environment for Trent to learn and continue developing socially and academically. It has been exciting to see Trent involved across many different aspects of the community at Tilton including athletics and theater.
As the parent of two day students at prep schools, it has been interesting to see the different dynamics of boarding and how it has helped Trent to thrive. My wife Alyssa and I live in Pomfret, CT with Trent’s older sister, younger brother and his triplet three (and a half!) year old sisters.

Story started out at a different boarding school that was not the right fit. Tilton has been like home for her. Basketball was the driving factor for coming to Tilton but there is so much more that keeps her here and loving it. It is the small community where everyone is known; the camaraderie among all students, not just athletes; the support from teachers, coaches, trainers and administration. I think for athletes it’s easy to slip in to a sense of a one dimensional identity – Tilton has allowed Story to see herself as an athlete, a student, a leader – and whatever else she wants to be.
I have another daughter who is at a different boarding school – which is perfect for her – that gives me a unique perspective. I can speak to the importance of finding the right place and the process of doing that. I also have a son in 8th grade who is applying to boarding school – including Tilton – so am in the process once again.

From our very first visit to Tilton School, we were warmly welcomed into a close-knit community that values academic excellence and personal growth. After our campus tour ended we chatted with coach O’Neil and quickly found how much Tilton athletics mirrored their academic core values, where schools aren’t always aligned.
Since committing to Tilton, this experience has provided our boys with a safe, inclusive learning environment where they are encouraged to become better individuals. The small class sizes and dedicated teachers have allowed our sons to thrive academically, while the supportive boarding life has been instrumental in building their character, developing social skills, and cultivating lifelong friendships.
Athletically, we watched our boys join a program that challenges them to be competitive and learn how to play the sport they love. It is such a supportive environment from the coaching staff all the way to the parents and alumni.
We are grateful for the unmatched attention and care our family has received at Tilton. We believe that the school can offer the same transformative experience to other families, helping students grow into well-rounded individuals ready to take on the world.

Tilton has been extremely meaningful to our family. My son wanted to experience all that New England has to offer, especially the seasons, and also hoped to find a school where he could truly feel part of a close-knit community with smaller class sizes. He did the research, put in the work, and made Tilton his goal. Watching him take that initiative and thrive has made us incredibly proud. I couldn’t have hand-picked a better place for him, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as a Parent Ambassador to stay connected and give back to a community that has already given us so much.
My husband and I are originally from Massachusetts, where our oldest daughter was born. Our son is the middle of our three children, so having him far from home has been an adjustment for our family, but one that’s been completely worth it. I now work as a Dyslexia teacher at a Title I charter school in Texas, and I’m inspired every day by students who face monumental challenges yet continue to show up and persevere. Their resilience reminds me why I love what I do.

We chose Tilton for the small class size, the friendly and relatable faculty who are genuine. Jayden has a health condition that fluctuates and the school is extremely accommodating, supportive, and discrete. All his teachers, nurses and dorm parents have been amazing.

Student Involvement: Track, Cross Country, Student Leadership, Student Ambassador, international travel (Spain trip with Mrs. Caldwell and Mrs. Smith), AP and Honors CurriculumTilton has helped Maggie blossom from a shy, quiet girl with good grades into an inquisitive, disciplined student athlete who constantly strives to improve academically and athletically. Through guidance from her excellent advisor and teachers she now sets high goals and standards for herself, and she puts in the work to achieve them. Tilton’s small size has allowed Maggie to get to know most everyone in the student body and has allowed her to develop and use leadership skills that will serve her after her time at Tilton. Tilton has been the best decision we have made for (and with) Maggie, and her dad and I are looking forward to watching her continue to grow here.
I am an 10-year Air Force veteran, and my husband, Ed, retired from the Army after 25 years of service. We have a small farm in Meredith where we raise grass-fed sheep, cage-free chickens, and honey bees.
