Brooks McQuade enters his 17th year at Tilton School and his 11th season as Head Coach of the Boys’ Varsity Hockey program. A 2004 graduate of Tilton, McQuade was a two-sport captain in hockey and baseball. He returned to his alma mater in 2010 after graduating from the University of New Hampshire in 2008, where he played baseball from 2005 to 2007. He later earned his MBA in Finance and Investment from Plymouth State University in 2014.

Since taking the helm of the boys’ hockey program in 2015, McQuade has guided the team to sustained success, including six New England Prep School and Lakes Region Playoff appearances over the past eight seasons. Under his leadership, Tilton captured the 2019 New England Championship, the 2020 Lakes Region Championship, and Holiday Tournament titles in 2022 and 2024.

McQuade was named the 2019 New England Hockey Journal Coach of the Year and 2019 Lakes Region Coach of the Year, and continues to be recognized for his leadership and impact on and off the ice.

As a USA Hockey Level 4 Coach, McQuade is actively involved in the New England District Development Camp and Evaluation Program. He has played a pivotal role in the development of numerous players who have gone on to compete at the NCAA level, including commitments to Holy Cross, Union, Stonehill, Williams, Tufts, Trinity, Wesleyan, St. Anselm, Hobart, Plattsburgh, Skidmore, UNE, St. Olaf, Wilkes, Assumption, Plymouth State, Stevenson, Elmira, and Norwich. Additionally, many of his players have advanced to top junior leagues such as the USHL, AJHL, BCHL, CCHL, SJHL, EHL, NCDC, and NAHL, continuing their development on the path to college and professional hockey.

Coach McQuade’s philosophy emphasizes accountability, respect for the program, and clear communication. He believes that strong character development and competitive success go hand-in-hand, and he is committed to helping each student-athlete grow both on and off the ice.

In addition to his coaching duties, McQuade serves as an Associate Director of Admissions at Tilton and plays an active role in the broader school community.
