Joseph Scala-Harbert

Joseph joined Tilton School’s World Languages Department in the Fall of 2020. He teaches all levels of French and recently began building and teaching the French TA program at Tilton. A graduate of nearby Brewster Academy, he is familiar with independent school life and is thrilled to be back on campus as a faculty member. Outside of the classroom, he is the coach for the second JV Boys Basketball team and instructs yoga on the side. He earned a BA in French from Plymouth State University with three minors in Applied Linguistics, Anthropology and History. Joseph studied abroad in Dijon, France where he was enrolled at L’Université de Bourgogne, concentrating on French Literature and L2 Language Acquisition. Over the years he has also spent a considerable amount of time in Québec, for both personal and academic pursuits. In his free time, he enjoys practicing yoga, being outdoors, and spending time with his family. He is the Dorm Head of Pfeiffer Hall where he lives with his husband and two cats, Mykonos and Edward.
