Joseph Scala

Joseph joined Tilton School’s World Language Department in the Fall of 2020 in which he teaches all levels of French. A graduate of nearby Brewster Academy, Joseph is familiar with independent school life and is thrilled to be back on a campus. Outside of the classroom, he helps to advise the Student Government and is the assistant JVB Basketball coach during the Winter. He earned a BA in French from Plymouth State University with three minors in Applied Linguistics, Anthropology and History. Joseph studied abroad in Dijon, France where he was enrolled at L’Université de Bourgogne, focusing on French Phonetics and General Language Acquisition. Over the years he has also spent a considerable amount of time in Québec both for personal and academic purposes. In his free time, he enjoys practicing yoga, being outdoors, and spending time with his family. He lives on campus in Pfeiffer Hall with his black Maine Coon Cat, Mykonos.
