Kate Saunders was named Tilton’s first female Head of School in November 2021 . Having first joined Tilton School in 2004 as the Director of Admissions, Kate had been the Assistant Head of School for Enrollment since 2019. Prior to her time in that role, Kate served at Tilton as the Assistant Head of School from 2016-2019, and as the Director of Admissions from 2012-2016. From 2008-2012 Kate was at Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Virginia. At VES, Kate served as the Director of Admissions, overseeing the overall communication and recruitment plan for the school. Kate also brings to Tilton six years of experience from her time at Lynchburg College, where she served as the Associate Director of Admissions, Senior Enrollment Associate and Enrollment Associate.
Kate has served on planning committees for The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) conferences, where she has also been a presenter six years and as a faculty instructor for the TABS Boot Camps for New Faculty and the Admissions Academy. She received her bachelor’s degree from Lynchburg College and is a graduate of Tabor Academy. Kate lives on campus with her husband, Matthew, and their two children, Isaiah ’17 and Mackenzie ’21, alongside her two dogs Sandy (mutt) and Otis (pug).
